Protecting older adults from fraud requires coordinated action across government, industry, and civil society. In April 2025, Amazon became a founding member of the National Elder Fraud Coordination Center (NEFCC), a public-private initiative in the U.S. that brings together government agencies, law enforcement, private sector companies, and advocacy organizations to combat fraud targeting older adults.
As a founding member, Amazon contributes fraud detection expertise, prevention technologies, and enforcement capabilities to the NEFCC’s mission—sharing intelligence on emerging scam tactics, collaborating on victim support initiatives, and supporting law enforcement investigations targeting elder fraud networks.
The NEFCC reflects a broader principle that shapes Amazon’s approach to scam prevention: no single organization can solve this alone. Amazon’s founding membership builds on existing partnerships with the AARP Fraud Watch Network, Better Business Bureau, and Global Anti-Scam Alliance—extending that collaborative model to one of the most vulnerable populations affected by fraud.
